In the comfort of your home you wait…and you’re ready for those shopping deals! Secure home Wi-Fi network connected, shopping accounts logged into, debit card nearby, multiple browser tabs open, and you, our Friend, are a Web Warrior! You are ready to jump into the fray of millions to find your deal all from the warmth of your couch. This is YOUR season. We’re right there with you, so we wanted to compile a short list of tips and tricks for the Web Warriors burning through the internet this holiday season. We’ve searched high and low to bring you, what we have found to be, some of the handiest online holiday shopping tips. Let’s begin, shall we?
1) Check store websites earlier this year.
We have found stores are posting Black Friday ads earlier, as well as, even launching early sales. We recommend you head to these sites early to scope out the coming deals, or take advantage of some ‘early bird’ specials.
2) Sign up for store accounts beforehand.
Every store has the option to create a shopping account on their site. There may be discounts you can take advantage of by signing up early. This will also speed up the checkout process, bypassing the need to enter all of your shipping and card information at one time.
3) Don’t forget shipping.
While several stores often forego shipping costs as part of their holiday shopping specials, some may not. Double-check to see if you need to factor shipping costs into your budget. You don’t want to be surprised by shipping fees in the Cyber Monday rush.
4) Double-check variations.
When selecting items that come in various shapes, sizes and colors, take a little time to double-check the options you selected. While this may slow you down a little bit, it’s worth the pain of getting an extra-small, red sweater when you thought you ordered a medium, blue sweater.
5) Wi-Fi security.
We recommend using your home Wi-Fi network, if possible, for added protection against identity theft. If you’re using a public wireless network, you could leave yourself vulnerable to hackers, who might be trying to gain access to your vital information.
6) Keep your Bank of Missouri app handy.
In the rush of jumping from site to site, it can be hard to keep track of your debit card spending. We recommend keeping your Bank of Missouri smartphone app handy, so you can keep track of your debit card transactions and keep that budget in check!
Above all, don’t forget to do some hand stretches to prevent hand cramps! Seriously!
These are just a few of our favorite tips. If you have any tips you think would be a great addition to the list, let us know in the comments or on any of our social media pages with #BOMWebWarriors. We’ll see you online, Web Warriors!
